Our Needs

At Journey4ward, we believe that healing from trauma begins with community—and that everyone deserves compassionate, professional support in their darkest hour.

This year, we are raising vital funds to expand access to trauma-informed counseling services for survivors of domestic violence, gun violence, at-risk youth, and other victims across North Texas. Your gift will directly support:

  • Free counseling sessions for families impacted by violence

  • Youth Impact Workshops that teach conflict resolution and empower young leaders

  • Clinician training and supervision to grow our capacity and reach

  • Operational infrastructure to ensure sustainable service delivery in underserved communities

On North Texas Giving Day, every dollar you give will go 100% to Journey4ward—thanks to generous platform sponsors waiving all fees. You’ll be joining a movement to restore hope, reclaim healing, and build safer futures for the most vulnerable.

Mission

Mission Statement

Journey4ward's mission is to ensure that all families have immediate access to meaningful, effective mental healthcare necessary to heal and restore them while helping them through pitfalls associated with unaddressed trauma. We are a resource to victims and families, helping them heal from trauma by providing free services, including trauma counseling for children and adults, judicial support services, community education, and peer-based and ongoing therapeutic activities.

Journey4ward promotes prosocial youth activities for at-risk youth, gun violence curriculum, and teaching principles that create nonviolence, leadership, and skills that engage youth to become proactive in the fight against gun violence, ultimately interrupting violence in our communities. We advocate for sustaining a community culture of nonviolence and building community partnerships to support victims and youth.

Vision Statement:

Journey4ward believes in ensuring equitable access to trauma counseling services, empowering families, victims, and marginalized communities to heal and flourish, and eliminating the barriers to accessing mental health care.

Needs

1. Licensed Counselors: To expand capacity and offer specialized services (e.g., trauma-informed care, grief counseling, DV response).

2. Crisis Response Systems: Funds for 24/7 helplines or urgent walk-in counseling.

3. Unrestricted Operating Funds: To cover utilities, admin salaries, and board development.

4. Grant Writing Support: Contract writers or software for managing complex grants.

5. Donor Management Systems: CRM tools to track engagement and fundraising growth.

Equity Statement

Journey4ward is deeply committed to cultivating diversity, equity, and inclusion across our staff, board, and programming. We actively seek out leaders whose lived experiences, identities, and cultural perspectives reflect the communities we serve.

Our multidisciplinary team includes bilingual and Sign Language-fluent counselors, as well as professionals from varied backgrounds. This intentional diversity enhances our clinical work and strengthens our outreach to those most affected by domestic and community violence.

We believe effective governance begins with inclusive leadership. Our board fosters a culture of trust, candor, and shared responsibility—where all voices are valued, and all members are engaged. We prioritize representation across age, gender, race, and lived experience, and currently have a Civil Rights Liaison dedicated to advancing equity across our work.

Journey4ward also invests in cultural competency through ongoing professional development. Our counselors and advocates complete rigorous training—whether through academic study or specialized workshops—to better understand the needs, barriers, and identities of each client. This knowledge is woven into our policies, procedures, and service delivery.

By embracing intentional inclusion, we are building a stronger, more responsive organization—and we invite future board members and community partners to share in that mission.
