HOPE Literacy equips churches and nonprofits to reach international neighbors for Christ. Our mission is to Help Other People Excel by sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ through English language and literacy instruction.
We are meeting a vital need in our neighbors’ lives. For newcomers to our country, learning the English language determines whether or not they will be able to get a job, communicate with their child’s teacher, or just function in their everyday lives. With recent cuts to public social programs, the need for church-based English as a Second Language programs is even more crucial.
This year we added 6 new sites for a total of 20 active sites, the highest in HOPE Literacy's history. We support over 250 volunteers and reach more than 800 students in the DFW area and beyond. HOPE is also international, supporting an English school raising up a new generation of leaders in Nicaragua, with opportunities to expand to other countries. English language opens doors to new economic opportunities for those in need here and abroad.
HOPE Literacy supports church and ministry-based ESL programs through initial funding, training, and ongoing support. With faith in God's provision through the abundant generosity of His people, we aim to provide salaries for new area directors.
