Holy Sews DFW serves hospitals by providing special handmade clothing sets (layettes) to their patients who have experienced a loss of an infant during early second trimester of pregnancy. These babies are usually about 7-10 inches long and weigh only a few ounces - too small for even preemie size gowns. Our layettes are handmade with love and understanding by a talented group of volunteers who give countless hours to serving. These volunteers often purchase their own fabric and supplies to make sure every family who experiences a loss can clothe their precious baby.
Each layette includes a blanket, wrap, tunic, hat/bonnet, teddy bear, and keepsake card for the baby's footprints and other information.
The DFW Chapter of Holy Sews is based in Carrollton, TX and serves all hospitals in the North Texas and greater Texas regions.
Holy Sews, Inc. was organized to respond to a call to serve as God’s hands in the world; to show compassion to families experiencing miscarriage or stillbirth; to provide handmade burial clothing to treasure these infants who are too small for even preemie clothing; and to educate communities in caring for families experiencing infant loss.
Holy Sews currently provides services to hundreds of hospitals, where we partner with nurses and bereavement teams to provide some comfort during a devastating time in these families' lives. Our layettes are provided at no cost to the hospitals or families.
We provided over 2,200 layettes to hospitals in 2024 and that number continues to grow as we add new hospitals every month.
No gift is too small - as little as $25 can provide a layette to a grieving family.
