Celebrating Tomorrow’s Leaders: Scholarships with Impact

Each June, at our quarterly meeting—this year held on June 14, 2025—HOGAR proudly honors our scholarship recipients in person. Witnessing students receive recognition for their genealogical research while they share personal stories about tracing four generations of Hispanic ancestry is truly a highlight of our year.

Why Our Scholarships Matter

Award size: Up to $1,000 per student, aimed at helping graduating seniors from Dallas County pursue higher education .

Eligibility: Open to high school seniors of Hispanic heritage—citizenship is not required—who plan to attend an accredited college in fall 2025 .

Purpose: Recipients must research and document four generations (maternal and paternal lineages), plot their family trees on a pedigree chart, and write a thoughtful essay about historical context and personal discoveries during the genealogical journey  .

The Experience

Each student shares what they learned about their family history, the historical events that shaped their ancestors’ lives, and the personal significance of this exploration.

The ceremony gives donors a chance to meet recipients and hear first‑hand how guidance and encouragement fuel these young scholars’ confidence and academic ambitions.

This North Texas Giving Day, your support brings more scholarships to deserving students eager to explore their roots and chart their futures. With donor contributions, HOGAR can:

Award 4–6 scholarships annually (at $500–$1,000 each) to motivated students pursuing higher education and Hispanic heritage research .

Expand outreach and application assistance, so more eligible seniors in Dallas County can discover and participate in our program.

Support the tradition of giving recipients not just financial help—but a sense of cultural pride and belonging.

Your gift doesn’t just fund education—it honors legacy, heritage, and community.
