Nearly 20 years ago, an idea about freedom took root in Allen, Texas.
The idea was simple: give veterans and emergency responders a chance to get out on the water, away from the noise and distractions of everyday life, where they could fish, connect with others who understood, and find a little peace. That idea became Heroes on the Water.
For those we serve, freedom on the water can mean many things: a chance to breathe and be present, a break from the pressures of daily life, or the connection that comes from being alongside people with shared experiences. That is freedom found on the water.
Since our start in Allen Texas, Heroes on the Water has served 75,000 veterans and emergency responders and 18,000 family members, providing more than 5,000 days on the water. Nearly two decades later, that original idea continues to create opportunities for those who serve to find connection, peace, and a little more freedom, right here where it all began.
This North Texas Giving Day, you can become part of its next chapter.
