H.E.R.O.E.S. serves all people with different abilities from birth through adulthood. We strive to support all families through connections to resources as well as facilitating lifelong learning and long-term successes.

We accomplish these goals by teaching the skills that are necessary for all individuals to become contributing members of society.

H.E.R.O.E.S. began during the summer of 2005. A group of Special Education Teachers and parents saw the need for a program that would PROVIDE opportunities in the community to learn valuable life skills in a safe, fun and loving environment.

H.E.R.O.E.S. strives to create social, recreational and vocational programs designed to meet the unique needs of individuals with disabilities.   H.E.R.O.E.S. does not turn anyone away because of medical or behavioral needs.  We welcome everyone and provide the staff to give each student quality care and fun every day.  We truly meet all the needs of every student, plus we provide assistance with tuition when needed!

H.E.R.O.E.S. strongly encourages the integration of all individuals in their community by providing social models, communication, emotional and behavioral supports.

Mission

HEROES mission is to provide lifelong learning through community experiences. We accomplish this through creating social, recreational, and vocational programs designed to meet the unique needs of individuals with disabilities. We strongly encourage the integration of all individuals into their community by providing social models, communication, emotional and behavioral support within our programs.

Needs

“Imagine being a young adult with an intellectual disability who recently aged-out of school programs…you no longer see your friends each day, you miss the routine and fun activities at school, and you are slowly forgetting social skills due to lack of practice. You are becoming isolated, lonely, and increasingly feel like a burden to your family.”

“Now, imagine a parent of a child with a disability. You know they will be your “forever child” meaning they will need care and support for their entire life – You also know and worry that they may outlive you and will need the physical and social skills to live independently. But once out of High School where will they learn and practice these skills?”

HEROES created social, recreational, and educational programs to fill this much-needed gap for these individuals and families. Because of HEROES, these families have hope in the future and often can watch their child with a disability grow and thrive in this next stage of life.

HEROES is changing lives… And I invite you to join me in supporting HEROES.

Equity Statement

We serve a diverse population of individuals with a variety of disabilities ranging from mild to severe. Clients range from age 3 through adulthood and may have developmental or intellectual delays, physical challenges, or multiple disabilities requiring varying degrees of care and adaptations.

We annually serve 600+ individuals and families who represent all races, ethnicities, genders, and socioeconomic statuses.

Our core belief centers around serving all; we do not turn anyone away based on medical or behavioral challenges, financial status, or age. We eliminate barriers by supporting them with adequate care, providing financial assistance, and offering programs designed for their current cognitive level.
