Our 2026 Need: Help us bring a combat veteran Air Force A-10 Warthog to the Metroplex!
This year, we have one request: donations to help fund the moving and travel costs for an A-10 Warthog.
Request: $25,000 to cover crew costs, acquisition fees, and transportation costs for the A-10.
The A-10 is still the most requested aircraft, and we have been trying to acquire one for over ten years. In 2016, we thought we had one, but they were recalled to service, and we lost out. Now, the situation is different, but our treasury wasn't prepared for the expense of this lucky break, and we need your help.
Our Thunderbolt II entered service in 1982 with the 76th Tactical Fighter Squadron "Vanguards," which was a component of the 23rd Tactical Fighter Wing "Flying Tigers," at England Air Force Base in Alexandria, Louisiana. When it returned to the States, it served at McChord Air Force Base in Washington State with the 354th Fighter Squadron "Bulldogs." Later, in the 1990s, it was converted to a rare OA-10C "FAC" aircraft and deployed again, but to Korea as part of the 25th Fighter Squadron "Assam Dragons," where it eventually became a ground trainer at Osan Air Force Base and later at Sheppard Air Force Base, where it is today.
The Government Surplus Property Program assigned this rare combat veteran to us, but we need your help to bring it home.
We are seeking donations and community support to help move an A-10 Warthog from its current location to the museum. The aircraft requires specialized transportation, including a forklift and crane equipment, to load, secure, and relocate it safely. Any contribution, large or small, will help cover the costs of transport, preservation, relocation, and other necessary expenses for this challenging move. We would greatly appreciate your support in preserving and relocating this incredible piece of aviation history.

At FWAM, we aim to embark on an ambitious project that will preserve our invaluable collection and transform how it is accessed and appreciated.

We invite you to be a part of this transformative project. Your donation will directly fund:
• $10,000 for government transfer fee
• $6,000 for transportation
• $3,000 for crew travel and for expense to perform break down aircraft for transport
• $2,000 for crane and forklift support
• $4,000 for reassembly and refurbishment
With your support, we can take the necessary actions to preserve our collection further. Your support this year could allow us to make improvements that will extend the life of our aircraft, while bringing new stories and experiences to visitors.

As a history, education, and preservation organization, we present our programs without restrictions regarding race, ethnicity, or gender orientation.
This year, we are asking for the support of a program to inspire at-risk youth in our community toward careers in aviation and aerospace.
