At Fannin County Family Crisis Center, we believe every survivor deserves to feel safe, heard, supported, and empowered to move forward.
For more than 30 years, our organization has been a trusted resource for individuals and families impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault in Fannin County. What began as a small volunteer effort has grown into a comprehensive program providing confidential, trauma-informed services right here in our rural community.
Our trained advocates are available 24 hours a day through our crisis hotline. We provide crisis intervention, safety planning, emergency transportation to safe shelter, individualized advocacy, counseling, legal and medical accompaniment, assistance navigating community resources, support and empowerment opportunities, and ongoing services designed around each survivor’s individual needs. We also work throughout Fannin County to make services more accessible to survivors who may face barriers such as transportation, distance, isolation, or limited local resources.
Our work extends beyond our office doors. We partner with law enforcement, healthcare providers, schools, churches, community organizations, and other local agencies to strengthen the response to domestic violence and sexual assault. Through education, outreach, prevention, and collaboration, we are working toward a safer and more connected Fannin County.
Most importantly, we are here for survivors not just during a crisis, but throughout the journey that follows. Safety may be the first step, but our hope is much bigger. We want survivors to regain stability, build confidence, find their voice, and create the future they choose.
Because survivors deserve more than simply getting through a crisis. They deserve the opportunity to heal, rebuild, and thrive.
Mission
Fannin County Family Crisis Center is an organization that counsels and supports individuals and families in a crisis due to sexual assault, physical trauma and emotional abuse. Our Mission is to help individuals take control of their lives, know what their options are and assist them in realizing them. We are a nonprofit organization that cares for the people of Fannin County.
Needs
Every day, survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in Fannin County reach out to us looking for safety, support, and a way forward. Some are in the middle of a crisis. Others are trying to rebuild months or even years after the violence occurred. Each survivor’s needs are different, and having flexible resources allows us to meet them where they are.
In a rural county, getting help is not always easy. Transportation, distance, isolation, limited local resources, and concerns about confidentiality can all become barriers. That is why we work to bring services closer to survivors, provide transportation when needed, and make sure help is available 24 hours a day.
Your support through North Texas Giving Day helps fill the gaps and provides resources that allow us to respond to the real, individual needs of survivors, including:
• Counseling and Healing: Trauma-informed counseling, support groups, and empowerment opportunities that help survivors process trauma, rebuild confidence, and work toward the future they choose.
• Immediate and Basic Needs: Food, hygiene items, clothing, transportation, emergency assistance, and other necessities that can make a tremendous difference when someone is experiencing a crisis or starting over.
• Advocacy and Ongoing Support: Individualized assistance with safety planning, protective orders, Crime Victims’ Compensation, housing, employment, medical and legal systems, community resources, and long-term goals.
• 24/7 Crisis Response: Maintaining a trained response for survivors who need help after hours, including our crisis hotline and medical, legal, and law enforcement accompaniment.
• Rural Access and Outreach: Helping ensure survivors throughout Fannin County can connect with services even when transportation, distance, or isolation makes reaching our Bonham office difficult.
• Education and Prevention: Providing our community with information about domestic violence, sexual assault, healthy relationships, available resources, and how we can work together to prevent violence and support survivors.
North Texas Giving Day funds give us the flexibility to respond when a survivor has a need that does not fit neatly into a grant or other funding source. Sometimes that means helping someone get to a safe place. Sometimes it means providing necessities while they start over. Sometimes it simply means making sure a trained advocate is there when someone is ready to ask for help.
