Friends of Fair Park, Inc.

Mission

Historically, Friends of Fair Park’s mission has been “to promote thoughtful planning for the park’s future, increase activity at the park, to support Fair Park resident institutions and surrounding communities, and to preserve the buildings, art, sculpture, and related artifacts of the 1936 Texas Centennial.” That keystone supports our expanded mission of “Preservation, Activation, and Imagination”:

- Preservation. Friends will continue to be the community’s voice for preservation within Fair Park – as a complement, constructive counterpoint, and ally to park management – starting at Friends’ doorstep, the historic Magnolia Lounge.

- Activation. Friends will activate Fair Park through the continuation, incubation, and innovation of Friends’ programs in the Magnolia Lounge and the broader park, for all communities. Friends will coordinate with park management to foster training and growth using park spaces, with a focus on free programming that serves the immediate surrounding communities.

- Imagination. Friends will promote the advancement of the business communities surrounding the park and the park’s legislative interests by, among other things, working to further the park’s historic purpose as a center for innovation. Friends will work with park management and the nearby communities to identify, vet, cultivate, and find funding for imaginative ideas to that end.
