Emily's Place fulfills its mission of breaking the cycle of abuse by equipping, empowering, and resourcing victims of domestic violence. Families stay for up to 2 years and participate in our program that includes:
Housing
Domestic violence is a leading cause of homelessness for women. Further, the abuse often leads to injuries, depression, and frequent job absences, which make finding housing more difficult. Long-term transitional housing, coupled with support services, offers families a stable place to begin to rebuild their lives.
Personal Empowerment
Women fleeing domestic violence often feel they have little control over their lives or circumstances. We strive to help residents rebuild their self-confidence and make positive decisions for themselves and their families by providing the support and guidance they need to achieve their objectives.
Financial Empowerment
Abusers often intentionally destroy their victims’ economic stability to try and trap them in the relationship. We empower residents financially by helping them understand how they spend their money, encouraging them to make wise financial decisions, and offering access to resources to help them reach their goals.
Family Empowerment
Children who have survived domestic violence often need help trusting their mothers again. Their mothers need help learning better strategies to tackle family problems. We promote family well-being and stability by providing opportunities for residents to develop their parenting skills and rebuild parent-child bonds.
