Drew Medford was born in Fort Worth in 1998. He was a spunky, curly-hired redhead who enjoyed the little things in life.

Drew was known for his passion and dedication to the sport of baseball. He played baseball at Paschal High School in Fort Worth, where he was a three-year varsity starter and enjoyed playing endless games against some of his best rivals at Arlington Heights High School. In his junior year, he was voted Utility Player of the Year, and he earned All District MVP as a senior. Additionally, he was an Honorable Mention All-American, as well as First Team All Texas.

After playing baseball at Paschal, he was ranked as one of the top prospects nationally and signed with Texas Christian University. Guided by the principle of Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” Drew attained his lifelong dream of becoming a Division 1 athlete.

Although leaving this life all too early, Drew left his mark on his family, friends and the community of Fort Worth. He was known for his sense of humor, drive to succeed, humility and empathy for others. Drew was able to give the gift of sight to two separate individuals who suffered from blindness. Drew was also able to donate bone and soft tissue (musculoskeletal tissue), which has provided a total of 167 gifts to patients suffering from a number of medical ailments, including athletes with torn ligaments or tendons that needed a transplant to heal and regain strength. The Medford family is very pleased to know that Drew’s life continues to make an impact for the good of others.

In 2017, The Drew Medford Memorial Baseball Tournament was launched to honor Drew's memory and his passion for the sport of baseball. Each year, local high school baseball teams are invited to participate in a four-day tournament. For each participating team, a standout player is selected by their coach to receive a scholarship. This player must embody Drew's characteristics; the drive to succeed, humility, empathy for others, and team leadership.

To date, more than $218,000 in scholarship funds have been awarded. In 2025 alone, $25,000 was awarded to 25 local athletes to further their education. Your support will help fund these scholarships!

We are a 501(c)(3) so your donations are tax deductible.

Giving Activity

Mission

The Drew Medford Memorial Tournament exists to honor Drew’s legacy by becoming the largest high school varsity baseball tournament in DFW dedicated to character and leadership. What began as a north Texas event has grown to include teams from throughout Texas and across the country, while staying true to its roots. At the heart of the tournament is the Drew Medford Memorial Scholarship, awarded to one student-athlete from each participating team. Whether attending college or trade school, these recipients represent Drew’s leadership through humility, determination, empathy, and integrity on and off the field.

Needs

Your support on North Texas Giving Day will allow us to underwrite annual player scholarships at the tournament.
