At this time our current primary financial focus is Dixie Diamond’s medical needs, so please know donations will be going towards her cause!!!

For those of you who are not familiar with Dixie Diamond, she is a very sweet Husky girl who is estimated to be 1 to 1.5 yrs old and weighs about 62 lbs.  She belonged to a family who lets their pets run rampant outside and doesn't pay much attention to the fact they're around.  They are extended family to a wonderful former DFW PP adopter who got a call from them stating this dog was getting into neighbor's trash (looking for food) tearing apart delivered packages and was out of control.  So, unless they took her, she was going to be shot.  She also was known to chase cars and ended up getting hit.  Our adopter reached out to us and offered to foster her if we could bring her into our organization.  She needs medical attention, so we had to say yes!!!  After an examination and x-rays, it was determined both her hip and knee would need respective surgeries, and she needed to be spayed of course.  The femural head, the ball part of her ball-and-socket hip joint, was crushed.  Advanced muscle atrophy was apparent in the hip.  An FHO procedure was needed for her hip condition and a TPLO procedure for her knee/shin bone.  She was immediately put on several monthly supplements to help her along the way.   The supplements will continue for an undetermined length of time and are expensive.  Both surgeries necessitate additional expenses of periodic x-rays, meds, supplements, and recheck vet visits.  Fast forward to the present……..

Both her spay and first hip surgeries are behind her and she has recovered.  She has also had 6 hydrotherapy sessions.  At her most recent follow-up vet appointment, new x-rays revealed extensive arthritis in her hip that is causing a problem and needs to be cleaned out, apparently not uncommon.  Some good news is that she is gaining muscle there now!!!  Nonetheless, sweet Dixie Diamond needs a 2nd hip surgery, as well as her TPLO knee surgery ASAP so she can get to a final recovery stage and move forward.  Her veterinarian recommends we do both surgeries one to two weeks apart so there is only one recovery.  We're going to need a lot of help from a huge village to get this girl to where she needs to be.  Ongoing prayers are very much needed!!  She is a happy, loving, lively gal who is beyond ready to be out of pain and her physical restrictions removed.  She is essentially still a puppy and wants to romp and play.  Please help us continue to help her!!  As always, we greatly appreciate everyone for helping us help so many pups in need!

Through the work of an all-volunteer staff, DFW Pup Patrol Rescue, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, works to rescue and heal abandoned, abused, and neglected dogs in our community. The homeless pups we rescue are all put into foster family care so we can get to know each of them as they are all unique in their own personalities, behaviors, etc. We have rescued, provided medical attention for, rehabilitated in a behavior capacity, and placed countless pups into new loving homes through our adoption program since March, 2010. DFW Pup Patrol's priority is to do everything we can to ensure our pups and committed potential adoptive families are the best possible matches for all involved thereby creating a forever and happy relationship.

Mission

DFW Pup Patrol Rescue's mission is to do our part within the DFW area to assist local communities and to contribute towards the global effort to help all homeless pets find committed loving forever homes and to always support spay/neuter and monthly heart worm prevention efforts, no exception.
