Denton County LOSS Team: Transforming Grief into a Path of Hope
Every day, families in Denton County are devastated by the tragedy of suicide. In those darkest moments, the Denton County LOSS Team (Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors) is there—bringing compassion, resources, and hope when it’s needed most. Launched in 2015, our team of suicide-loss survivors and mental health professionals has stood shoulder-to-shoulder with more than 2,000 individuals, offering both immediate crisis response and long-term support to help families find healing and reduce the risk of further loss.
What Your Gift Makes Possible
- Immediate, on-scene support:
When a suicide occurs, our team responds within hours to provide compassionate presence and crisis resources, ensuring families are not alone in their most vulnerable time.
We follow up regularly—within the first week, month, and up to a year—through visits, phone calls, and check-ins to help reduce isolation and the risk for additional suicide deaths.
From comfort kits for children (stuffed animals, blankets) to guidance books for adults, and even funding for biohazard cleanup, we ease the immediate burden on families.
The Impact of Your Support
- Survivors who receive LOSS intervention gain access to help 40 times faster than average.
- Reducing the likelihood of additional suicide deaths within our community.
- Every dollar given helps prevent further tragedy and brings hope to grieving families.
