About Denton Christian Preschool
Since 1970, Denton Christian Preschool (DCP) has been committed to providing high-quality early education and comprehensive support to at-risk three- and four-year-old children in the Denton community. For more than five decades, DCP has helped young children build the academic, social, emotional, and developmental skills they need to enter kindergarten prepared to learn and succeed.
Our mission is to expand access to early childhood education and ensure that every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential. Through a nurturing and supportive environment, DCP works to help each student enter kindergarten at or above grade level, equipped with the confidence and foundational skills necessary for continued success.
A Comprehensive Approach to Early Childhood Education
DCP’s program is built around five essential components that address the academic, developmental, health, nutritional, and family needs of each child:
Developmentally appropriate classroom instruction: Children participate in engaging learning activities designed to support their individual growth and prepare them for kindergarten.
Transportation to and from school: Reliable transportation helps remove barriers to attendance and enables more children to participate consistently in the program.
Daily nutritious meals and snacks: Healthy breakfasts, lunches, and snacks help ensure that children have the nourishment they need to learn, play, and grow.
Health and developmental screenings: DCP provides access to medical, dental, speech, and other diagnostic screenings. When additional support is needed, families receive appropriate referrals and guidance.
Monthly parent events and activities: Families are invited to participate in events that strengthen parent engagement, build community connections, and support children’s learning beyond the classroom.
To affirm our commitment to excellence, Denton Christian Preschool completed the rigorous process of obtaining national accreditation through NAC, the National Accreditation Commission for Early Childhood Education. This accreditation reflects DCP’s dedication to maintaining high standards in early childhood education, health and safety, family engagement, and program quality.
A Community Built on Compassion and Commitment
Denton Christian Preschool was founded by individuals from 17 Denton churches who shared a strong belief in the importance of a child’s earliest years. They understood that the first few years of life are critical to a child’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development, and they came together to create a program that would give local children a strong foundation for the future.
Today, dedicated professionals and caring volunteers continue that legacy by teaching, feeding, encouraging, and nurturing approximately 60 children each school year. Every day at DCP is an opportunity to help a child discover their abilities, develop new skills, and experience the joy of learning in a safe and supportive environment.
By investing in children early, DCP helps improve their readiness for school while supporting their long-term academic, personal, and social development.
Help Us Serve More Children
In recent years, reduced funding has made it increasingly difficult for DCP to provide services entirely free of charge. We must now charge tuition, which creates an additional financial barrier for many families and limits the number of children we can serve. As tuition costs have increased, enrollment has declined.
Your support can help us reach more children and continue providing the education, care, nutrition, transportation, and family support that makes DCP unique. Together, we can help ensure that every child, regardless of family income, has a fair opportunity to begin kindergarten prepared and confident.

Our Current Volunteer Needs
Volunteers play an important role in helping DCP provide individualized attention and meaningful support to our preschoolers. We are currently seeking volunteers who can contribute their time in the following ways:
Read with students: Share books with children, encourage a love of reading, and help develop early literacy skills.
Work one-on-one with individual students: Provide additional encouragement, practice, and support as children develop academic, social, and classroom skills.Assist during mealtimes: serve meals, encourage positive mealtime habits, and create a welcoming, organized dining experience for our students.
Whether you volunteer regularly or assist when your schedule allows, your presence can make a lasting difference in a child’s day. A few hours of your time can provide the individual attention and encouragement that help a young learner feel supported and successful. In-Kind Donations
DCP also welcomes in-kind donations of essential day-to-day items that help us operate our classrooms and meet our children's needs. Donations of office and classroom supplies allow teachers and staff to continue providing engaging learning experiences while helping us use our financial resources where they are needed most.
