Dancing Classrooms is an internationally respected social development program founded in 1994 by Ballroom Dance Champion Pierre Dulaine. The program has since expanded into 20+ US cities and several countries around the world. The program is 10 weeks (20 lessons) and uniform for all fifth graders. What makes this program unique is the incorporation and reinforcement of the "Dulaine Teaching Method" which is a technique that grooms youth for positive social interaction and teaches them how to use appropriate forms of verbal and non-verbal communication regularly. It is the reinforcement of manners and the respectful language transformations with youth that empower the program's supporters most. Research has shown that children engaged in the Dancing Classrooms program have improved their ability to relate to peers from other cultural groups, improve their social skills, improve their ability to manage behavior, and grow their respect for others. These educational outcomes are highlighted in the original Mad Hot Ballroom (2005) and Dancing in Jaffa (2013) documentaries. In 2006, the Hollywood production of "Take the Lead" starring Antonio Banderas portrays Dulaine's work and life in the public schools by exhibiting his unique ability to teach teamwork, build positivity and purpose and accomplish big goals using Ballroom-Style dance competitions. Caring is at the heart of this unique program!

Our Needs

Like many of you, we are concerned how the COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted our youth's social development skills and caused long lasting fears about human contact, human touch and interaction. Right now WE NEED YOUR HELP! There is a critical need to get our schools programming basic teamwork and social-emotional learning skills. This campaign gives our supporters the opportunity to help deliver high-quality social development programming that will directly impact our children's future. For over 15 years, Dancing Classrooms North Texas has been a leader in educating youth and making a direct and positive impact on the mental and physical health of children in our community.

In 2019, more than 5,000 students received the Dancing Classrooms North Texas program across the Dallas-Ft. Worth metroplex and over 55,000 students in north Texas have graduated from the program.

Mission

Our mission is to build social awareness, confidence, physical fitness and self-esteem in children through the practice of social dance. Our vision is to help build schools and communities where every child is connected, respected, and provided a safe environment in which to learn, develop, and thrive.
