CARE LOUDLY. GIVE PROUDLY.

Help us care for every creature — big and small — this North Texas Giving Day! Each animal at your Dallas Zoo has a story worth protecting and a future worth fighting for. From tiny tails to mighty roars, your gift supports them all.

And this year, your impact goes even further, thanks to a generous $75,000 challenge match from our friends at The Eugene McDermott Foundation.

The Dallas Zoo’s mission is Engaging People and Saving Wildlife, and our work would not be made possible without the support of dedicated advocates like YOU.

Your gift sustains our work, protects our legacy for future generations, and allows us to act during critical moments — like when baby chimpanzee Makutu (Mak) needed us most.

When Mak was born earlier this year, our team quickly realized his mother wasn’t providing the care and nourishment he needed. Six expert zoologists stepped in, providing round-the-clock care and incurring $100,000 in unexpected costs. The result? Mak is now thriving on habitat with his mom and troop!

Because of YOU, success stories like this are possible.

But your gift does so much more:

  • Education – We’re one of the largest outdoor classrooms in Texas, hosting over 100,000 field trips and learning experiences every year. We're also home to North Texas’s only certified nature-based preschool.
  • Conservation – We’re working across the globe, supporting endangered species recovery in over 40 countries.
  • Park Operations – With more than 100 acres of habitats and green space, we’re one of Dallas’ top family destinations.
  • Animal Care – We provide daily care, food, and medicine to over 2,000 animals — every single day.

Our team of more than 400 employees keeps the awe and wonder happening 365 days a year. Your support fuels top-quality animal care, global conservation efforts, and the next generation of wildlife stewards.

Join the herd, spread your wings, and show you care this North Texas Giving Day!

Giving Activity

Mission

The Dallas Zoo's mission is to Engage People and Save Wildlife.

This mission serves as our North Star—our guiding principle and the driving force behind our commitment to Creating a Better World for Animals. By providing our guests with real-world opportunities to make memorable connections with wildlife, and broadening their perspective with engaging conservation topics, the Dallas Zoo aims to inspire and empower visitors to take action for wildlife.

Needs

The Dallas Zoo is dedicated to the top-notch care for over 2,000 animals representing over 400 species, all while fostering deep connections between people and nature.

Generous North Texans like you enable us to offer affordable tickets and exceptional educational experiences for Zoo guests, local schools, families, and individuals with sensory sensitivities.

Our outreach extends globally, sharing engaging, educational, and conservation-focused content far beyond our walls, and we need your help to continue our lasting impact on wildlife alive.

Equity Statement

The Dallas Zoo welcomes and celebrates everyone. We are committed to employing and partnering with all people regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, ability, gender, or orientation. We recognize that to welcome all we must intentionally reduce barriers to engagement within our park and community.

As we work to build diverse teams and reinforce work environments rooted in inclusion and equity, we continue to apply a consistent diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) lens within our Zoo and Dallas community.
