BE A PART OF OUR HERD'S STORY

There's an extra special reason to celebrate this North Texas Giving Day: Our baby elephant, Matope, is here and growing fast! Your support powers the expert veterinary care, daily nutrition, and enrichment that helps our entire elephant herd and over 2,000 animals at the Dallas Zoo thrive.

And this year, your impact goes even further thanks to a generous $75,000 match from our friends at The Eugene McDermott Foundation.

🐘 🌿🌍

The Dallas Zoo’s mission is Engaging People and Saving Wildlife. This commitment extends to each animal in our care, and every conservation effort we support around the globe. But none of it happens without dedicated advocates like YOU

This North Texas Giving Day, here's a closer look at what it takes just to keep our elephant herd thriving every year:

🍏 470,000 lbs. of food served to our herd — that's the weight of 20 school buses!

🩺312 hours of dedicated veterinary care

❤️‍14 full-time caretakers who know our elephants not just by name, but by personality

🛖$699,000 invested in habitat improvements and upkeep

This is what your generosity makes possible, every single day, for our herd, and every animal who calls the Dallas Zoo home.

Give today, double your impact, and help your Dallas Zoo thrive.

Giving Activity

Mission

The Dallas Zoo's mission is Engaging People and Saving Wildlife.

This mission serves as our North Star, our guiding principle and the driving force behind our commitment to Creating a Better World for Animals. By providing our guests with real-world opportunities to make memorable connections with wildlife, and broadening their perspective with engaging conservation topics, the Dallas Zoo aims to inspire and empower visitors to take action for wildlife.

Needs

The Dallas Zoo is dedicated to the top-notch care for over 2,000 animals representing over 400 species, all while fostering deep connections between people and nature.

Generous North Texans like you enable us to offer affordable tickets and exceptional educational experiences for Zoo guests, local schools, families, and individuals with sensory sensitivities.

Our outreach extends globally, sharing engaging, educational, and conservation-focused content far beyond our walls, and we need your help to continue our lasting impact on wildlife alive.

Equity Statement

The Dallas Zoo welcomes and celebrates everyone. We are committed to employing and partnering with all people regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, ability, gender, or orientation. We recognize that to welcome all we must intentionally reduce barriers to engagement within our park and community.

As we work to build diverse teams and reinforce work environments rooted in inclusion and equity, we continue to apply a consistent diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) lens within our Zoo and Dallas community.
