Taking its name from the Latin word meaning 'I believe,' Credo is a 115-singer mixed chorus based in Dallas, Texas. Founded and conducted by Dr. Jonathan Palant, Credo's mission is rooted not only in the power of music, but also in community, learning, equality, and in sharing one's fortunes with those less fortunate. Credo, now beginning its thirteenth season, has performed throughout Dallas and has undertaken concert tours to Argentina, Australia, Cambodia, Cuba, Iceland, Ireland, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Morocco, Portugal, Uruguay, and Vietnam. In June 2017, Credo traveled to New York City and Washington D.C. performing in both Carnegie Hall and the National Cathedral - returning again to Carnegie Hall in 2024.
The 2024-2025 season marks the 13th for Credo and plans are underway for a celebratory year that includes a traditional Christmas concert in December and then a massive collaboration with the Dallas Street Choir and the University of Texas at Dallas premiering "SHELTER ME: An Original Rock Oratorio" at the Charles W. Eisemann Center for Performing Arts. In June 2025, Credo will embark on a 10-day concert tour to Croatia and Slovenia.
CREDO'S MISSION IS ROOTED NOT ONLY IN THE POWER OF MUSIC, BUT ALSO IN COMMUNITY, LEARNING, EQUALITY, AND IN SHARING ONE'S FORTUNES WITH OTHERS.
Credo believes that music has the power to unite, inspire, and transform communities. Our commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and belonging is central to Credo’s mission, guiding its efforts to create a choral community that is welcoming, representative, and accessible to all.
Credo recognizes that meaningful progress requires ongoing dedication, reflection, and action. We strive to foster a culture that embraces diverse voices, perspectives, and experiences—both within our choir and in the broader artistic community. This commitment extends to our leadership, singers, collaborators, and audiences, ensuring that all who engage with Credo feel valued and included.
As Credo works to elevate the universal choral tradition, we intentionally seek out and amplify underrepresented voices—singers, composers, and arts professionals—so that the music we share reflects the rich diversity of the world around us. By championing policies and practices that remove barriers to participation, we affirm that choral music belongs to everyone, regardless of race, ethnicity, age, ability, gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic background, or any other defining characteristic.
True artistic excellence flourishes when all voices are heard. By cultivating an inclusive and equitable environment, we aim to strengthen our choir, enrich our performances, and deepen our impact on the communities we serve.
