COPPELL ISD'S TEACHERS HAVE THE IDEAS. WE HAVE THE NEIGHBORS.
At Coppell High School, students with disabilities run a coffee shop. It's called the Cowboy Coffee Crew, and it serves CHS staff every day. A CEF grant added the technology that makes it work like a real workplace — so students learn customer service, recover from mistakes, and walk into a first job with references and confidence. Their teacher, Ed Arndt, puts it this way: "This experience sets them up to not be alarmed by their first job."
That's one of 45 grants CEF funded across 12 Coppell ISD campuses last year.
HERE'S WHY WE EXIST: In 2024–25, Coppell ISD sent $25.7 million in local tax dollars to the state through recapture — while running a $7.6 million budget deficit. Unfunded state mandates opened another $14 million gap. Money Coppell ISD neighbors paid, meant for Coppell ISD kids, gone to Austin.
We can't change the state. We can protect what's ours. Every dollar given to CEF is shielded from recapture. The state cannot touch it. It stays here, working for Coppell ISD teachers and students.
WHAT THIS COMMUNITY FUNDED LAST YEAR:
45 classroom grants across 12 campuses, PK through 12
$107,374 delivered straight into Coppell ISD classrooms
100% of CISD teachers reached at Convocation, with a keynote speaker funded by CEF
$4,000 in scholarships for graduating seniors
$1.5 million+ invested in Coppell ISD classrooms since 2000
AND THE NEED IS GROWING. Coppell ISD teachers are projected to request $123,000 in classroom grants this year — up from $45,303 just three years ago. Teachers keep bringing bigger ideas. We'd like to keep saying yes.
Coppell ISD is 6th in Texas with a 99.6% graduation rate. That doesn't happen by accident — it happens because this community has always decided our schools are worth investing in. On September 17, we're asking you to decide it again.
GIVE ON NORTH TEXAS GIVING DAY. EVERY DOLLAR PROTECTED FROM RECAPTURE.
The Mission of the Coppell ISD Education Foundation is to generate and distribute resources to the Coppell Independent School District for educational, motivational and innovative programs needed to meet the district's mission of excellence in education.
What we're raising for right now:
Give for Grants — our flagship, funding Coppell classrooms since 2000. Innovative Teacher Grants, up to $3,000. One teacher, one idea her budget can't reach — sensors for a science lab, a class set of novels, materials for something nobody has tried here before. Campus & Department Initiatives, up to $7,500. When a whole grade level, department, or campus wants to try something bigger together. Last year: 45 grants, 12 campuses, $107,374. This year teachers are likely asking for $120,000+.
Zero Year. Every brand-new teacher in Coppell — zero years of experience, first classroom, first week — gets a gift card from this community. It's a small thing that says welcome, we're glad you're here, and we've got you.
Convocation. Every August, before students arrive, all of CISD's teachers and staff gather in one room. CEF brings the keynote speaker. This year it was Joe Sanfelippo, and 100% of CISD teachers were there.
Milestone Service Honors. Recognizing the educators who've given decades to Coppell classrooms — the teachers whose names show up in three generations of students' memories.
The Homecoming Parade Teacher Float. Every campus's Teacher of the Year, riding through downtown Coppell in front of the community their work built.
Scholarships. $4,000 to four graduating Coppell seniors last year, plus the Recognition Banquet honoring the top 5% of students and the teachers who got them there.
