The Community Outreach Connection (COC), Inc., is a faith-based, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2005 by the late Homer D. Reagan. This year marks our 20th anniversary and our mission to uplift underserved and disenfranchised families by providing essential resources and support, has not wavered. Each year, we serve over 6,000 families with food, clothing, and access to vital health and human services. In partnership with the North Texas Food Bank and the Texas Department of Agriculture, we are committed to eliminating hunger in our community. Through our PEACE Scholarship Program, we have awarded over $6,000 in scholarships to graduating high school seniors, empowering the next generation with opportunities for higher education.
We are an organization that aspires to enrich the knowledge and opportunities for community youth in the academic disciplines of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). There is a low representation of African Americans and Hispanics in STEM career fields and we want to create a strong mentoring environment to bring a broader focus to this group in preparation for their future.
Our Needs
We need more volunteer support in our food pantry to help distribute food and service the clients. Our clients come from the surrounding communities that represent a population of families that are greater than 56% below poverty level income. Additionally, we need to maintain a venue and vehicle for operations.
Our STEM program needs revitalizing with electronic resources such as laptop computers, robotic assembly kits, projectors and projector screens to provide sufficient training in our STEM workshops. We are also currently we are in need of IT support and highly skilled Marketing Professionals.
