In the 12 years of operation, we have provided clothing, shoes and accessories to families in our communities. Does not matter where they live, no paperwork required, income status does not apply.
We serve families by appointment only, 4-5 times a month which includes 1 Saturday one Sunday. In the first 8 months of this year, we have served a monyhly average of 154 families that have 759 family members with 6275 articles of clothing, shoes, and accessories.
The IMPACT: In the past 12 years we have been open we have saved our families approximately $2,519,874‚ ($3 average cost per item at a thrift store x our total pieces of clothing). Money that can used on housing, food, and everyday essentials!
Yearly cost is (based on 2023 YTD numbers) for an average family of 5‚ $93
Our Back-to-School New Socks and Underwear will be distributed in August and September, PLUS each child receives new shoes. In 2023 we distributed 730 new socks and new underwear as well as 711 pairs of new shoes to our families with school age children. Our families can receive these items once throughout the year.
The month of December, our Toy Giveaway, which was incorporated into our appointment program, provided 861 toys for Christmas morning.
In addition to serving our families through weekly appointments, we also see and hear many other reasons for needing our services…..a fire family lost everything….CPS just brought my grandson to me and he has no clothing….I am having shoulder surgery and need button up shirts and don’t have extra funds…the bus lost my luggage, my luggage was stolen, can we get some clothes from you…the hospital just called, my sister who is on drugs just had a baby and they want me to come get it, I did not even know she was pregnant… I am a new foster parent, and these 4 kids don’t even have underwear much less clothes.
THE ANSWER IS ALWAYS YES and we open up just for them.
