What We Provide
The Commerce Food Pantry offers curbside distribution of pre-assembled bags of dry and canned foods, bread, and fresh produce as available. We also offer choices of frozen meat and personal care items and paper products.
Will You Be One of Our 44 This NTxGD?
For 44 years, the Commerce Food Pantry has helped neighbors put food on the table. Every bag of groceries represents more than food. It represents a community coming together to offer hope and a little breathing room when our neighbors need it most.
The pantry was established in 1982 by Reverend John Enochs, Jr., as a mission of the First Christian Church in Commerce, with the intention that it would rotate among local churches. When it found its home at the First Presbyterian Church on Monroe Street, it stayed.
What began as an emergency food pantry has evolved into a community resource providing supplemental groceries and personal care items to an average of 240 local households each month. The pantry also works to connect neighbors with additional resources available to them.
Over the years, leadership and the organizational structure have changed, but one thing has remained constant: the generosity of our community.
We're looking to find 44 people who will make an online gift of any amount on the North Texas Giving Day website in honor of our 44 years of service. If we reach our goal of at least 44 online donors, we'll unlock a $4,400 grant match from a generous donor.
How Your Donation Helps
Your generosity ensures that households in need have access to essential items such as protein-rich foods (canned chicken, tuna, beans, and peanut butter) and personal care products (toilet paper, body soap, and dish soap). Your support comes at a critical time as we continue to see high numbers of households served each month, including many first-time visitors.
Our mission is to source and offer nutritious, supplemental food and personal care items to neighbors in need in the Commerce, Texas area without regard to race, age, gender, national origin, sexual orientation, disability, religious affiliation, or political view.
