The Cedar Hill Food Pantry, now under the umbrella of Cedar Hill Shares, has been helping alleviate hunger in our community since 1989. The Pantry has emerged as a lifeline to a growing number of residents in Cedar Hill and stands as a beacon of hope for the hungry and the needy. The Food Pantry relies solely on contributions, volunteers and donors to deliver much needed assistance. Today the Pantry's reach extends beyond food distribution and includes assistance with TXU energy aid, emergency fuel cards and other vital resources. The Pantry also serves as a hub for Meals on Wheels for our community.
Cedar Hill Shares Food Pantry is a community-wide effort to combat food insecurity in our city. We are pledged by our bylaws to provide nourishment to eligible families within the Cedar Hill Independent School District boundary as well as additional assistance, through programming, to our surrounding neighbors.
The Cedar Hill Shares Food Pantry is primarily in need of funding for our new programming as well as general operations. It is our aim to open our doors full time by 2026. In order to make this our reality, we need to implement full time programming (in nutrition, education, and financial literacy). This will also create career paths for our staff and opportunities for robust programming to support our valued clients! We also intend to continue support our neighbors by providing grocery items such as fresh produce, meats, dairy products and bakery goods. We would love to continue to service our community in these ways and even more!
