Cara Mía Theatre is raising $15,000 to prepare Youth and Artists to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
Your gift will support four core educational initiatives:
1. Symposium on Arts Management for Artists
Now in its second year, this immersive gathering offers mentorship, dialogue with a pool of diverse artists, community development, and tools to navigate AI and funding challenges. The symposium provides 50 scholarships and $100 honoraria to support participation, with the goal of building a local network of artists, educators, and cultural workers.
2. ActivARTE Teaching Artist Lab (New)
A paid, hands-on training program for local Teaching Artists to lead student-led arts projects. Participants will gain the skills to guide youth through the full creative process—from concept to completion—while preparing themselves for the evolving workforce. The training also explores how to use AI as a tool for planning and communication, while centering the human skills that drive creativity, leadership, and impact.
3. The School of YES!
Our free summer arts camp intensive empowers over 60 youth (ages 7 to 18) to create original, collaborative arts projects that reflect their lives and communities. A core component of the camp is the Student Leadership Program, which develops skills in leadership, project ideation, and implementation. These experiences help prepare youth to succeed in the arts, business, education, and STEM fields.
4. Jesse Tafalla Jr. Scholarship Fund
Named after Cara Mía’s beloved board member, this scholarship fund supports graduates of the School of YES! Leadership Program as they pursue higher education. In 2025, three young leaders received up to $2,000 each for college. Your gift helps us unlock the final $13,000 of a matching grant from the Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation. Double your impact today!
