Our Needs

In 1991, Camp John Marc welcomed 500 campers over eight weeks during its inaugural summer. Over 30 years later, CJM currently hosts eleven week-long summer camps and over 25 weekend camps. On average over 3,000 children, teens and family members attend a CJM camp every year.

One week of summer camp for a single camper costs $585, of which the participating camps pay $195. Camp John Marc covers the remaining $390 (CJM fully funds two summer camps that otherwise would not be able to participate). By subsidizing two-thirds of the camper’s cost and maximizing the use of volunteers, CJM provides a residential camp experience for far less than what many traditional summer camp host sites charge organizations and camps serving children with special medical or accessibility needs.

Who

Camp John Marc is comprised of a full-time team of administrative and facility staff, seasonal summer staff of 24, and the support of over 1,000 volunteers annually.

Most of the children and families served by Camp John Marc live in or near the Dallas/Fort Worth area, but participating camps can also invite children living in other parts of Texas.

Each Camp John Marc camp serves children and teens who share a common medical or physical challenge.  View the CJM Calendar to see what diagnoses are served at Camp John Marc.

Mission

Camp John Marc inspires confidence for life through high-quality camping programs for children, teens, & families. Year round programming & specialized camp facilities are uniquely designed in partnership with Dallas-Fort Worth area pediatric hospitals, community volunteers, & health organizations who are dedicated to serving campers living with chronic medical & physical challenges. The dignity of each camper is nurtured at Camp John Marc & in the community through its outreach programs.
