HELP TO THE RESCUE - Saving One Paw at a Time
Since 2004, Boston Terrier Rescue of North Texas (BTRNT) has rescued and provided lifesaving care to more than 3,500 Boston Terriers and French Bulldogs, found loving homes for more than 3,000 dogs, and transported more than 1,500 animals to safety.
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization powered entirely by volunteers. We don't have a large facility, paid staff, or unlimited resources. What we do have is an incredible network of foster families, volunteers, adopters, supporters—and people who believe that every dog deserves a chance.
One dog at a time, we rescue, provide medical care and find a loving home.

Because of people like you, BTRNT rescued 133 precious dogs in 2025.
Every adoption, surgery, heartworm treatment, bag of food, medication, transport and foster home was possible because someone cared enough to help.

But 2026 has brought a level of need we weren't expecting.
2026: The Calls for Help Keep Coming
From January 1 through September 1, 2026, BTRNT has already taken in 162 dogs.
During that same period in 2025, we took in 114.
That's an increase of approximately 42% in just one year—an average of more than 4½ dogs every single week needing our help.
But behind every number is a story.
It's a Boston or Frenchie pulled from an overcrowded shelter with little time left. It's a puppy born with a medical condition who needs an expensive surgery for the chance to live a normal life. It's a senior surrendered after spending years with a family, suddenly needing somewhere safe to spend their golden years. It's an injured Frenchie who needs emergency hospitalization. It's a frightened dog who needs months—not days—to learn that people can be trusted again.
Every dog that comes through BTRNT has a story. Our job is to help give that story a happy ending.
These are the dogs Boston Terrier Rescue of North Texas exists for.
THIS YEAR IS CRITICAL
Earlier this year, BTRNT came dangerously close to having to close our doors to new intakes because we simply did not have enough foster homes.
We asked for help. And you answered.
People stepped forward to foster, volunteer, transport and support our rescue, allowing us to continue responding to desperate requests from shelters and families needing to surrender their dogs.
We still desperately need foster homes, and at the same time, we are facing some of the highest costs in our rescue's history.
Veterinary costs continue to rise, and this year we have encountered an unusually high number of serious and complex medical cases.
A single emergency can cost thousands of dollars.
When several happen within weeks of each other, the financial impact on a small rescue like ours is enormous.
Emergency hospitalization. Specialty surgery. Orthopedic procedures. Heartworm treatment. Severe injuries. Extensive diagnostics. Chronic medical conditions. Medications. Behavioral rehabilitation.
We don't get to choose when the emergencies happen.
And the dogs don't stop needing us because our veterinary bills are high.
Our first responsibility will always be to the animals already in our care. When we say YES to a dog, we make a promise to provide the medical treatment, food, rehabilitation, training, supplies and support that dog needs.
We intend to keep that promise.
But we also want to be able to answer the next call.
The next overcrowded shelter.
The next owner surrender.
The next medical emergency.
The next Boston or Frenchie who has nowhere else to go.
NORTH TEXAS GIVING DAY 2026
North Texas Giving Day is BTRNT's largest and most important fundraising campaign of the year, and this year it couldn't come at a more important time.
Our 2026 Goal: $20,000
And we would LOVE to exceed it!
Every dollar raised will help provide the things our dogs depend on every day—emergency and specialty veterinary care, surgeries, medications, heartworm treatment, food, foster support, transportation, training, rehabilitation and supplies.
But this year's $20,000 goal represents something even bigger.
It gives us the ability to keep saying YES.
YES to the senior who suddenly has nowhere to go.
YES to the injured dog sitting in a shelter.
YES to the puppy who needs surgery.
YES to the terrified dog who needs time and patience.
YES to the emergency phone call we haven't received yet.
YES to the dog whose name we don't even know today.
For more than 20 years, people who love these dogs have made it possible for BTRNT to be there when they needed us the most.

Caring for and healing the hearts, bodies and minds of Boston Terriers and French Bulldogs in need, whether from neglect, abandonment or abuse, regardless of age, health or adoptability while addressing any medical or physical issues each dog may have that caused him/her to be surrendered or abandoned.
Work to provide a solution to stop pet overpopulation by ensuring that any Boston Terrier or French Bulldog available for adoption is spayed or neutered.
To provide education and assistance to those interested in adopting and to those who have adopted.
To provide each rescued Boston terrier a loving home environment in foster care until a happy, safe and FOREVER home is found.
Our primary focus is caring for the animals already depending on Boston Terrier Rescue of North Texas while maintaining the resources to help the next animal in crisis.
The cost of rescue continues to rise. Veterinary care, emergency treatment, medications, food, and supplies are more expensive, while shelters remain overcrowded and requests for help continue every day.
Our greatest needs are financial support, emergency medical funding, foster homes, volunteers and resources to help us continue caring Boston Terriers and French Bulldogs in our rescue.
Emergency and Major Medical Care
Medical care is one of our largest and most unpredictable expenses.
Many animals entering BTRNT need much more than routine veterinary care. We are facing more emergency hospitalizations, lifesaving surgeries, orthopedic procedures, specialty care, extensive diagnostics, heartworm treatment, severe skin conditions, injuries, infections and ongoing medical needs.
One emergency can cost thousands of dollars. Several major cases arriving close together can quickly consume funds intended to support the entire rescue.
Emergency medical funding allows us to make decisions based on an animal's chance for recovery and quality of life, rather than whether enough money is available that day.
We want to be prepared to say YES when a Boston or Frenchie has a viable path to a healthy future.
Caring for the Animals Already in Our Rescue
When BTRNT says YES to an animal, we make a commitment to care for them until they are safely adopted to a loving individual or family.
For some dogs, that journey lasts weeks. For others with significant medical, behavioral or emotional needs, it can take months or longer.
Donations help provide veterinary care, vaccinations, spay and neuter procedures, medications, preventatives, food, specialized diets, behavioral support, training, rehabilitation, transportation and everyday supplies.
Our responsibility does not end once an animal is rescued. That is when the work begins. We want to continue to support our families and address challenges as they arise.
Foster Homes
Foster homes are one of our most critical needs.
Every foster creates space for another animal to be saved and gives a dog the opportunity to live in a home while waiting for adoption.
Our greatest need is for fosters! We need fosters willing to welcome medical recovery dogs and animals who may need additional time to decompress and adjust.
Without enough foster homes, we cannot take dogs in from people needing to surrender their Boston or French Bulldog. We have to have a foster before we can tell a shelter we can take a dog. Time is usually a huge factor especially if they have significant medical issues – they could be at risk for euthanasia.
More fosters mean we can say YES when we get the call from a shelter or an owner surrender which have increased to 2-4 a week lately.
Community Support
Sometimes the most effective rescue happens before an animal ever enters a shelter. We often get calls from people who are struggling with behavioral or training issues with their dog. We do our best to connect them to a trainer who will give advice over the phone unless it is a more dire situation and they will give them information on their training program.
As veterinary costs, housing expenses and the overall cost of pet ownership continue to increase, more families are being forced to make heartbreaking decisions. Our goal is to keep a loved pet in the home if at all possible.
Volunteers
Boston Terrier Rescue of North Texas is run by an all-volunteer group dedicated to saving Boston Terrier and French Bulldogs.
We need people willing to give their time as well as individuals who can contribute specialized skills.
Volunteer needs include animal transportation, home visits, fundraising, donor outreach, communications, social media, grant writing, photography, foster and adoption support, administrative assistance, volunteer coordination and community support.
Every volunteer strengthens our ability to direct more resources toward the animals who need them.
Supplies and Resources
With animals in foster homes throughout the state, supplies are an ongoing need.
Food, crates, bedding, puppy supplies, cleaning products, enrichment items, medical supplies and other everyday necessities are constantly being used and replaced.
