The Azle Community Caring Center (CCC) food pantry was established in 1990 as a faith based, non-profit organization. In 2024, we helped 4,418 food insecure households which included 10,915 adults and 6,973 children. 19,910 grocery baskets were prepared and distributed by our dedicated volunteers and staff to those in need in our community. We rely on donor contributions and fundraising activities to support our mission as our needs continue to grow! CCC's success is in part to staying true to our core values:
Community - We believe in the power of neighbor helping neighbor. We reduce hunger by building a network of staff, volunteers, vendors, donors, and clients to create a strong and inclusive community.
Caring - As a faith-based organization, we are called to serve others. We focus on the well-being of our neighbors and provide our services in a kind, respectful manner.
Commitment - We are committed to reducing hunger and believe in equal access to nutritious food. We are devoted to empowering our volunteers and staff to lift up our community. We hold ourselves to the highest ethical standards in all interactions with staff, volunteers, vendors, donors, and clients.
Our Mission is to care for those in need in our community through the provision of food, clothing, and household goods.
While our main focus is to reduce food insecurity in our community, by providing free clothing and household goods, families can focus their financial resources on other necessities such as rent or fuel.
Each weekend, many children in the Azle ISD go home to an uncertain future - unsure if there will be enough food to eat.
In partnership with Azle ISD, we are working hard to change that through the Weekend Backpack Program. This program provides nutritious, shelf-stable food for children that have been identified by school counselors as chronically hungry.
Each backpack is provided to students before the weekend, supplementing the food they receive at home. Students return to school on Monday ready to learn, and not distracted by hunger.
The cost of each food-filled backpack has risen from $4.70 in December 2023 to $6.50 today due to increased food and supply costs.
Last year we distributed over 6,700 backpacks - but rising costs have put a strain on our budget and threaten our ability to provide a backpack to every child in need.
Thanks to the Communities Foundation of Texas, 100% of transaction and technology fees are covered—which means every dollar you give goes directly to filling backpacks with food for a hungry child.
This year, your impact is even greater: an anonymous donor is matching all gifts up to $25,000! That means your donation will be doubled, helping ensure that no child spends the weekend hungry.
Together, we can make sure every child has the food they need.
"The Weekend Food Backpack Program has touched countless lives for our children and their families here in Azle. This resource allows our children to have basic needs met along with fostering a sense of hope and compassion. Throughout the many years we have had this program, we have seen the look in our students' eyes and in their smiles saying “thank you”. Words could never truly articulate how grateful and blessed we are to have this amazing resource for the children in Azle ISD". - Alisa Johnson, Azle ISD Counselor
The Azle Community Caring Center is committed to ensuring our employees and volunteers engage in equitable treatment of our clients and strive to foster an inclusive environment in both our volunteer and client services.
