At Austin Street Center, we transform lives and restore hope for our neighbors experiencing homelessness.

Founded in 1983, Austin Street is one of Dallas’ largest low-barrier shelters, providing safe shelter and meeting the basic needs of the most vulnerable neighbors: men ages 45 and older and women ages 18 and older.

But Austin Street is more than a bed and a meal. What many people don’t realize is that shelter is just the beginning. We connect each individual to the programs, resources, and support they need, including mental health services, counseling, housing assistance, and more. These resources help people regain their independence, overcome barriers, and begin a new chapter in their lives.

Our Services

We believe every person who comes to Austin Street should have access to the hope, support, and resources they need to move beyond homelessness. At the Austin Street, our team provides comprehensive services and programs in one location, helping remove barriers and connect our neighbors to the care and resources they need.

Our Impact

1 in 4 people experiencing homelessness in Dallas last year accessed Austin Street services, either at our emergency shelter or through our community-based programs.

In 2025, Austin Street:

• Served 2,731 unique people through our shelter and housing programs
• Helped 640 people secure housing
• Completed more than 25,000 case management sessions
• Helped 245 individuals gain employment
• Provided more than 40,000 free rides through our Connector transportation program
• Sheltered more than 4,000 people during inclement weather events
  
  

Your Impact

• $25 pays for 6 meals of the more than 1,000 meals served onsite daily
• $50 provides one night of safer shelter and wraparound support services for one client
• $125 provides home essentials for one client moving into housing
• $500 provides 10 days of case management services, shelter and meals for one client
• $1,200 pays the first month’s rent for one client
