Managed by Audubon Dallas, Cedar Ridge Preserve has been a beacon of environmental conservation, education, and community engagement for many years. Its 633 acres of pristine woodlands, scenic trails, and diverse ecosystems provide a sanctuary for wildlife and a refuge for those seeking solace in the beauty of nature.

But more than just a place of tranquility, Cedar Ridge has played a pivotal role in educating our community about the importance of environmental stewardship and the need to protect and preserve our natural resources.

Over the years, Cedar Ridge has faced numerous challenges, from maintaining its trails to supporting educational programs and preserving fragile habitats. The demands on the Preserve have only increased, and it has become even more crucial to secure the necessary resources to continue its vital work.

Your North Texas Giving Day contribution will go directly towards maintaining and enhancing the Preserve, supporting educational programs that inspire a love for nature in our community's youth, and ensuring that Cedar Ridge Preserve remains a thriving and accessible place for all.

Every dollar you donate will have a meaningful impact, bringing us one step closer to ensuring the long-term sustainability of this vital community resource.

Cedar Ridge Preserve is not just a place; it's a legacy we leave for future generations, a testament to our commitment to preserving the beauty and wonder of the natural world.

Audubon Dallas Songbird Sanctuary

In early 2025, Audubon Dallas  successfully acquired 60 acres of valuable habitat adjacent to Cedar Ridge Preserve. Now called the Songbird Sanctuary, this remarkable acquisition extends far beyond a simple land purchase; it's a bold leap toward safeguarding the vibrant ecosystems of North Texas and ensuring a thriving future for its wildlife and people.

This sanctuary will nurture hundreds of bird species, pollinators, native plants, and animals and will eventually feature an expanded 1.5-mile trail system, inviting families, students, birdwatchers, and nature enthusiasts to immerse themselves in the beauty of the outdoors. It unlocks exciting opportunities for hands-on environmental education, habitat restoration, and community connection; core pillars of our mission brought to life through your commitment.

Mission

Founded in 1973, Audubon Dallas is a local chapter of the National Audubon Society serving the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Its mission is to support and promote the conservation of birds and other wildlife and the protection of habitat and biodiversity in the area.

Needs

In 2025, Audubon Dallas completed the purchase of a 60-acre tract adjacent to Cedar Ridge Preserve. We are raising funds to develop a Songbird Sanctuary on this tract in order to protect the habitat for protected nesting species like the Golden-cheeked Warbler. Donations are needed to develop a 1.5-mile trail in the sanctuary and for maintenance of the plants and property.

Cedar Ridge Preserve currently serves more than 500,000 visitors annually. Donations are needed to maintain and upgrade trails, purchase equipment, and develop more programs that connect people with nature.

Equity Statement

The birds Audubon pledges to protect differ in color, size, behavior, geographical preference, and countless other ways. By honoring and celebrating the equally remarkable diversity of the human species, Audubon will bring new creativity, effectiveness and leadership to our work throughout the hemisphere.
