Founded in 1996, Attitudes & Attire® supports women on their journey to self-sufficiency and independence. Most are tackling difficult situations such as domestic violence, chronic unemployment, addiction, incarceration, and illness. Since inception, more than 27,000 women have acquired tools to build the confidence they need to succeed. We offer four programs: Core Program (Self-Esteem and Job Readiness Workshops), Hopeful Smiles™, (Restorative Dental Program) and Boots to Heels®, (Women Veterans Program) and Spanish-Speaking program.

Core Program
The Core Program at Attitudes & Attire® equips women with the self-esteem, tools and wardrobe to enter the workforce. It consists of three workshops designed to teach women to recognize their self-worth, create a positive image and improve job-search skills. Topics discussed include communication skills, interviewing techniques, healthy relationships, boundary setting, self-care, goal-setting, positive self-talk, financial fitness, etc. We provide a workbook designed to guide clients towards healthy self-esteem, self-sufficiency and stability in their personal and professional lives.

Hopeful Smiles™
In response to an overwhelming need among our clients, we added a restorative dental program in 2006. Hopeful Smiles™ is a partnership with Dallas-area dentists who volunteer chair time to restore the oral appearance of women whose teeth and gums have been severely affected by illness, neglect, poverty, substance abuse or violence - all hindrances to positive self-esteem. Hopeful Smiles™ offers assistance to women who are below the poverty line and damaged or missing teeth visible when they smile.

Boots to Heels®
An extension of our Core Program, we developed Boots to Heels® in 2012 specifically for women in the military community: Active, Guard, Reserve, Veteran, Spouses of Veterans and First Responders. The women have an opportunity to interact with others who face similar challenges transitioning from military life as veterans while reclaiming their self-esteem and finding their self-worth.

Spanish-Speaking Program
Our Spanish-Speaking Program was founded in 2019 after recognizing a need in our Hispanic community. We have two staff members who are fluent in Spanish. This gives us the opportunity to reach a population that might not otherwise attend our workshops due to language barriers. We have had a tremendous response to this program.

Our Needs

Attitudes & Attire®  currently has a need for donations (clothing, accessories, financial) and volunteers (personal shoppers, guest speakers, dental professionals). *Donate clothing and accessories -- We welcome donations of new or gently used professional attire including suits, separates, purses, scarves and jewelry. *Become a personal shopper -- Work directly with our clients in the boutique to help them select workplace appropriate outfits. *Be a guest speaker -- We invite professionals within our community to speak on topics such as interviewing, financial fitness, etc. *Refer a dental professional -- We strive to recruit dental professionals within the Metroplex to volunteer chair time to our clients in Hopeful Smiles™. *Support our program -- We always need financial donations. Did you know: --$35 can provide workbooks for 10 clients --$50 can clothe one client in professional attire --$75 can provide a comprehensive oral exam
