Who We Are
As the Garland (area) chapter of Altrusa International, we seek to be local communities of Garland, Sachse, Rowlett, and Wylie through leadership, partnership, and service. Our club offers the opportunity to make a real difference in the Garland area through a variety of local and international service projects each year. This year, Altrusa Garland celebrates our 24th year of proudly serving in our community.

Altrusa International Foundation of Garland seeks to better our local communities of Garland, Sachse, Rowlett, and Wylie through volunteer service, leadership, and non-profit partnerships; with a primary focus on literacy and community improvement.
It’s been said that, while “love makes the world go ‘round,” it’s money that pays for the gas! ONE HUNDRED PERCENT of our NTGD goal of $10,000 goes directly back into our community and allows us to provide for those we serve throughout the year.
Here are a few needs that will be met through YOUR North Texas Giving Day donation:
• Books in English and Spanish for literacy events and Little Free Libraries
• Scholarships for Garland ISD graduating seniors as they pursue post-secondary learning opportunities
• Military care packages, including the cost of postage, sent around the world
• Varied support for underserved families, including food/meals, school supplies, and training events
• Celebratory events for the elderly in our community including a State Fair of Texas Day and a Mother’s Day luncheon at Christian Care Center residents
• Supplies and books for refugee families new to our area
• International partnerships providing supplies to families in Mexico and Ghana
