The organization was founded by community members who believe in supporting students beyond graduation from high school. The first two cohorts of the school graduated during COVID; they later shared that going to the university without owing a device of their own presented obstacles that hindered their efficiency in preparing for classes, completing assignments just to mention a few.
The Advisory Council members have raised funds for the last three cohorts and bought devices for all of them needing one. This year, the Advisory Council also granted scholarships to students who did not receive a full ride to the university. The members want to increase the amount of scholarships granted to the next generations.
The mission of the WLIAC shall be to advocate for and support the World Languages Institute (WLI) in preparing multilingual students to lead in a global society.
The purpose of the organization is to:
1. Support WLI students to excel academically and develop global leadership skills.
2. Support the multilingual advanced instructional plan of the school and any academic projects that benefit the student population.
3. Assist in securing sponsors and/or funding for projects that benefit the implementation of the multilingual advanced instructional plan of the school.
4. Ensure that the funds provided by the sponsors are used to implement the school multilingual advanced instructional plan.
5. Advocate for and support the WLI in the community to ensure that its students have equitable access to opportunities for success.
