In 1996, Central Church of Christ and other churches in Wise County saw a need for one location as a central food pantry. They decided to combine efforts and merge into a local outreach which became Wise Area Relief Mission - WARM.
In 1998, WARM moved into its current building and has since become the largest food pantry in Wise County. Also benefiting from WARM's food pantry is Jack and Montague County residents. WARM currently provides food to 32 communities.
In August of 2024, our pantry grew 200 families in one month. Since then, it has consistently been about 1000 families a month. In 2024 our food pantry provided groceries to 2,460 unduplicated families which translates into 7,585 unduplicated individuals (both adults and children are included in this number).
WARM also helps with utilities, prescriptions, and emergency dental extractions. WARM also administers Salvation Army, Wise County Unit funds for utilities and emergency rental assistance for Wise County. All financial assistance is for Wise County residents only.
WARM is not controlled by any government agency but is supported by area churches, schools, civic groups, and individuals with both monetary and food donations. The United Way of Wise County also supports WARM financially.
The mission of WARM is compassion and assistance as a response to God's grace through Jesus Christ by offering services to those with needs in Wise, Jack and Montague Counties in an effort to promote a productive, sharing community.

Just as God's grace is His gift of love to us without regard for merit or worth, WARM strives to offer compassion and aid to those families who, for no single reason, are suffering from financial or other setbacks. Persons with needs are served regardless of race, sex, age, social and economic status, national origin, or religious background, to the end that all persons served can be helped to achieve their fullest potential as children of God. The underlying premise of WARM is that promoting self-sufficiency in turn promotes a sense of community cohesiveness.
