Women In Need (WIN) has been a steadfast presence in Hunt, Rains, and Rockwall Counties for 42 years, offering safety, advocacy, and hope to survivors of domestic violence. Last year alone, 722 individuals turned to WIN for support—136 of them finding safe shelter. As the need continues to grow, so does our commitment to walk alongside every survivor on their journey from crisis to confidence.

A cornerstone of WIN is our 24/7 availability. Our advocates answer calls and texts day and night, providing immediate support, crisis intervention, and pathways to safety. Through empathy and expertise, they ensure no one faces abuse alone.

WIN is inclusive—our services extend to anyone seeking refuge from abuse. While our shelter is reserved for women and children, we also guide men to safe housing and resources, because courage knows no boundaries.

Our dedicated Legal Advocates empower clients with tools to secure protective orders, navigate court, and rebuild their lives with dignity. At our shelter, survivors find a safe, nurturing space to rest, heal, and begin again, typically staying 30–45 days as they work with advocates on individualized plans for safety and renewal.

Every survivor’s journey is unique. That’s why our Advocacy Team creates personalized strategies—addressing trauma, safety planning, and long-term goals—while offering support groups and encouragement along the way.

On North Texas Giving Day, your gift to WIN is more than a donation—it’s a lifeline. Together, we can break the cycle of violence, empower survivors, and create safer tomorrows for families in our community.

Giving Activity

Mission

Women In Need is a multi-faceted domestic violence resource center that shelters, advocates and educates for a secure today and offers hope for a safer tomorrow.

Needs

We have a significant need for funding to sustain and enhance our services. While we are emerging from the challenges posed by the pandemic, instances of reported domestic and intimate partner violence continue to rise. The costs of running our shelter have experienced a substantial increase. Inflation and elevated prices for essential items such as groceries, fuel, clothing, and utilities have a direct impact on our ability to provide critical services and essential life necessities. Your support is crucial in enabling us to address these pressing needs and continue making a positive impact in our community.

Equity Statement

Women In Need, Inc. (WIN) is dedicated to providing advocacy, education, and resources for individuals of all backgrounds and abilities who are impacted by domestic violence. At WIN, we firmly believe in the fundamental right of every person to live a life free from violence. We are committed to cultural competency, equity, and inclusion by implementing policies and protocols that reflect these values within our staff and throughout our organization and community partnerships. Through continuous professional growth and education, we strive to create an environment where diversity is celebrated, enriching our understanding and strengthening our ability to achieve our mission of ending domestic violence
