White Rock Hills Library Friends support the Library system & this branch, providing material support, volunteer hours, and enthusiasm to this library branch. As White Rock Hills Library Friends, we have input for what is meaningful in our community. Some possible contributions includes art materials, cultural programs, movie nights, teen dances and preschool storytime.
Money to support community programs is the primary need of the White Rock Hills Library Friends.
Some library branches hold book sales as their main fundraiser, we are unable to do that because this library branch was designed with no storage space to store books and other materials for sale.
Our main sources of income are annual membership dues (95% of our income) and donations (5% of our income). Over the years, we have been fortunate to receive several substantial anonymous grants.
Generally, our money and efforts go toward providing the White Rock Hills Branch of the Dallas Public Library System with items that are not funded under their budget (i.e. an extra book truck), event support (food, beverages, signage), and some program expenses for which the branch is not funded.
White Rock Hills Library Friends is guided by a philosophy of inclusiveness, equability, affordability and a spirit of cooperation.
