In 2018 Westie Rescue Of North Texas helped over 100 Westies and Westie mixes become healthy and happy again. Many received a new lease on life that they had never had! WRNT also entered a number of rescues into our Walking Them Home Program. The WTH program is a hospice type program for rescues who have a limited life span due to chronic medical conditions. In this program, WRNT makes certain that the rescue receives the much needed medical care including medications to keep them comfortable and pure love to keep them happy. Without the help of North Texas Giving Day and the many people who donate to our organization, this is not possible.
Although the pandemic and the closure of many puppy mills greatly reduced the amount of Westies available, we still have ongoing costs for Westies in our Walking Them home program, as well as extensive vetting costs for all dogs we rescue. Each dog we accept receives a full veterinary exam, blood tests, dentals and medication (if needed).
We are committed to our mission: Westie Rescue of North Texas exists solely to rescue and rehabilitate abused, abandoned, neglected, homeless, and surrendered West Highland White Terriers. However, our mission also includes helping and educating the public on the dangers of adopting from puppy mills, how to care for one's Westie, and supporting our adopters as they walk through the process of getting a new dog. In addition, we are committed to helping those who unfortunately -- through circumstances they cannot control -- have to surrender their dog to us. In this way, we are helping humans and dogs.
Westie Rescue of North Texas exists to rescue and rehabilitate abused, abandoned, neglected, homeless and surrendered West Highland White Terriers. Our Westies are provided with the attention, care and medical treatment necessary, including vaccinations and spaying/neutering until a permanent home can be found. Through our volunteers, WRNT also focuses on educating the public regarding puppy mills and responsible dog ownership, including spaying/neutering, training and humane care of Westies and other pets. 100% of donations received go towards our mission. All members of the organization are strictly volunteers.
We need fosters, transporters and monetary supporters!
Westie Rescue of North Texas is committed to providing the best homes to our dogs, period. We do not discriminate based on race, color, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, birth or other status such as marital and family status, sexual orientation and gender identity.
