It's amazing to realize that this is the eleventh year of Spreading the Warmth's work! Since then our large team of volunteers has knitted, crocheted, and distributed over 8,500 scarves and hats as random acts of warmth and kindness throughout the United States--and even the world. Each year almost 200 scarves are sent to members of the Armed Forces who need them to keep warm, and many scarves are sent to our field representatives throughout the United States, including Colorado, New Jersey, and Chicago, where they are individually distributed through social service agencies. In 2024, another chapter of our organization was begun in Streetman, Texas. Though our scarf-makers range from 16-95 in age, many in our group are seniors who have time on their hands and need purpose to feel joy and fulfillment. We also help support several knitting groups at high schools in our area. We are so grateful to each of you for supporting our organization; because of your kindness and generosity, we plan to continue our mission for many years to come.
Spreading the Warmth is a "random acts of kindness" organization whose members create and distribute handmade scarves and hats throughout the United States and other countries in the world to promote warmth, love, and purposeful community action.
Our administrative needs include paying for our website and Constant Contact newsletter fees, as well as the tags that we attach to each scarf. Money is also needed to purchase yarn for our many members who knit and crochet, to send scarves to many cooler parts of the country, and to support the Streetman, Texas chapter of Spreading the Warmth which was established in 2024. Currently, this group is making scarves and blankets for seven different social service agencies in their area.
Our organization is open to everyone who can breathe, even if it is with assisted breathing!
Our male/female participants are greatly diverse in their backgrounds and other identities and span in age from young children to people in their 90s.
