United Way of Metropolitan Dallas is a social change organization that unites the community to create access and opportunity for all North Texans to thrive. We are committed to being a fully inclusive, multicultural, antiracist movement so that we can drive transformative change and advance racial equity in the areas of education, income and health—the building blocks of opportunity.

Together with you, last year we changes the lives of nearly 1.6 million North Texans to thrive, including:

  • 655,000 students laid the groundwork for ongoing educational success
  • 420,000 workers secured a solid foundation for economic stability
  • 498,000 neighbors accessed the resources necessary to live longer, healthier lives

Invest in Lasting Change

When you support United Way, you are making a holistic community investment that will directly impact the lives of North Texans. Your contribution is an investment in proven, measurable impact. Here are some of the many ways your dollars can help ensure that all North Texans have the opportunity and access to thrive:

Once Upon a Month: A $36 investment provides a child with 12 books a year, preparing them for school and early reading. Students who read on grade level by 3rd grade are 5x more likely to graduate ready for success in college or career.

Dollars for College: A $50 investment funds a child's college savings account, which can grow to nearly $500 by high school graduation. Children with a college savings account are 3x more likely to attend college and 4x more likely to graduate.

H.O.P.E.S. (Healthy Outcomes through Prevention and Early Support): An $88 monthly investment funds a local family’s involvement in H.O.P.E.S., which equips parents with key skills and resources that reduce instances of child maltreatment and keep kids out of the foster care system.

Pathways to Work: A $250 investment in career training materials helps a person get certified for a job that earns $6,300 more per year.

Digital Bridges: A $275 investment provides one family with a refurbished laptop, Microsoft Office and bilingual tech support, which ensures children have access to the technology they need to succeed in today’s digital world.

Mission

We believe in the power of unity and equity to create lasting change—and we're uniting the community to create opportunity and access for all North Texans to thrive, challenging the systemic barriers associated with race. We aspire to a North Texas in which ALL students graduate high school prepared for success in college or career, ALL families are financially stable, and ALL North Texans have the tools and resources to lead longer, healthier lives.

Equity Statement

At United Way of Metropolitan Dallas, we believe in the power of unity and equity to create lasting change. We acknowledge that systems of structural racism in North Texas have created barriers to equitable access to education, income, and health - the building blocks of opportunity. That's why we have designed an eight-year strategic plan to ensure United Way of Metropolitan Dallas is a fully inclusive, multicultural, antiracist organization. We know that to drive transformative change in North Texas and advance racial equity in the areas of education, income, and health, we must also drive transformative change and advance racial equity internally. To achieve this transformation, we are infusing racial equity into every aspect of our work.
