For more than 30 years, TREC Community Investors has helped transform historically underserved North Texas communities by investing in the disinvested, energizing neighborhoods, and changing lives.
Our commercial real estate loans, neighborhood revitalization initiatives, and educational programs have guided hundreds of emerging small developers, nonprofits, and mission-driven organizations in building brighter futures for our neighbors.
We believe in revitalizing neighborhoods block by block, pairing visionary community leaders with catalytic capital and pro-bono technical assistance to maximize our collective impact.
Just like:
-
Within our CDFI: As a Community Development Financial Institution certified by the U.S. Department of the Treasury, we offer funding to developers in low-to-moderate-income neighborhoods who traditional lenders might consider particularly risky. Throughout our history, we have provided 33 loans worth $8.99 million, redeveloping more than 330,000 square feet of space and creating 245 housing units.
-
In the Forest District: Our inaugural Dallas Catalyst Project (DCP) neighborhood revitalization initiative resulted in 22 impactful real estate projects over six years, nearly 121,000 square feet of redeveloped space, 6,000-plus volunteer hours, and more than $144 million in additional investment. In 2024, we began a new DCP initiative in Mill City.
-
In Our Real Estate 101 and Real Estate Bootcamp Classes: For nearly two decades, our flagship courses have equipped small developers and nonprofit leaders with the skills, tools, and networks necessary to navigate commercial transactions and bring projects to life.
-
At our Volunteer Days: TREC members and partners have completed landscaping, painting, and minor construction projects that beautify homes, restore outdated facilities, rejuvenate community pride, and enhance the quality of life for residents.
