Travis Manion Foundation was founded in 2007 following the death of 1stLt Travis Manion (USMC) who was killed in Iraq while saving his wounded teammates. Today, Travis' legacy lives on in the words he spoke before leaving for his final deployment, "If Not Me, Then Who..." Guided by this mantra, veterans and families of the fallen continue their service, develop strong relationships with their communities, and thrive in their post-military lives. As a result, communities prosper, and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation.
All of Travis Manion Foundation’s programs are grounded in the evidence-based field of Positive Psychology, taking a preventative approach to mental health and well-being and accentuating the skills and strengths of veterans and families of the fallen in order to position them as leaders in their communities. Chris Peterson and Martin Seligman, two Positive Psychology pioneers, identified 24 character strengths present in all people across cultures and time. At TMF, we believe that veterans and survivors are uniquely positioned to motivate communities toward meaningful change. TMF’s programs provide veterans and families of the fallen with a sense of community engagement and meaning to support and strengthen their character strengths, passions, and skills so that they may continue to serve and thrive in their civilian lives. Veterans and families of the fallen who participate in TMF’s signature programs are part of a community that takes a holistic approach to well-being.
Since inception, Travis Manion Foundation has inspired and empowered over 78,000 veterans and families of the fallen and impacted over 715,000 young adults, mobilizing more than 120 local communities in service through our signature programs.
TMF's North Dallas and Fort Worth Chapters propel our mission forward throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex by participating in Operation Legacy service projects, community athletic events honoring our nation's heroes, Character Does Matter programming to youth and more. We invite you to support TMF's North Dallas and Fort Worth Chapters as they empower veterans and families of the fallen to continue their legacies, find renewed purpose, and build camaraderie in their local community.
