In 2001 a grassroots group of parents and educators recognized the need to promulgate the life-giving message of St. John Paul's Theology of the Body to a world in need. Our founders answered this calling to spread the Theology of the Body to people of all ages in a holistic way.

We receive calls and emails every day from concerned people who live in a culture that distorts the proper view of sexuality and identity. This distorted view rests on what St. John Paul diagnosed as "detachment" from the truth and meaning of the human body. Detachment devalues the human body and thus, the dignity and identity of the human person.

St. John Paul anticipated this detachment and crisis of identity in his writings. Through the Theology of the Body he gives a wondrous view on the meaning of our existence: to love and be loved. St. John Paul asserts that God makes this reality visible in our human bodies. TOBET distills this philosophically dense, theological reflection down to make it accessible to families and people of all ages without losing its richness.

TOBET shares this message with others through educational resources: books, programs, talks, and seminars that offer hope to people in need. These resources offer a healing response to our culture's messages which devalue the human body and thus, the human person.

Giving Activity

Mission

TOBET provides original educational resources, presenting the truth of God's design of the body to children, youth, and families, so that all will be transformed by St. John Paul's life-affirming message of the Theology of the Body.

Needs

Your donations last year were a huge success! We were able to:

1. Fund the development of a new program—My Body, My Identity: Discovering God's Design!

2. Fund the printing of our first state-side run of The Body Matters in Spanish!

3. Continue funding for the growth and development of TOBET, worldwide!

This year we have two new programs to present:

—Bridges and Boundaries: Building a Safe Environment

This dual-purpose program teaches Catholic faith formation alongside Safe Environment protocol. Bridges and Boundaries helps children and their parents understand what it means to be made in God’s image and likeness through Pope St. John Paul II’s Theology of the Body, while also learning to recognize violations against the dignity of the human person, and how to respond with the body as a boundary.

—My Body, My Identity: Discovering God's Design

From Pre-K through 12th Grade, My Body, My Identity: Discovering God’s Design helps educators discuss important but sensitive topics from a traditional, Biblical perspective. It is designed to teach Christian values in ways that are appropriate for different age groups. The upper levels of My Body, My Identity include specific lessons on abortion, transgenderism, homosexuality, promiscuity, and pornography. Grounded in the Bible and the Theology of the Body, and created by an ecumenical team of Christian experts, this program teaches that we are made by God and should live according to His design.

We need your help getting our two newest programs into the hands of children, families, schools, and parishes in need in 3 ways:

1. Funding to help cover the cost and maintenance of the technology used to distribute these video-based programs.

2. Funding to help cover the cost of marketing and advertising to let people know about our new programs.

3. Funding to help us serve under-resourced schools.
