$50,000 Goal

TOBET was founded in 2001 by a grassroots group of people to promulgate St. John Paul's message of hope and healing to a world in need. The founders were educators and parents who recognized a calling to spread the Theology of the Body to people of all ages in a holistic way.

The need for this life-giving message is evident in the regular calls and emails we receive from people who live in a culture that distorts the proper view of sexuality and identity. This distorted view rests on what St. John Paul diagnosed as "detachment" from the truth and meaning of the human body. Detachment is a mindset that devalues the human body and thus, the dignity and identity of the human person.

St. John Paul anticipated much of this detachment and crisis of identity in his writing, and through the Theology of the Body he gives a wondrous view of the meaning of our existence, which is to love and be loved. This reality, he says, is made visible in our human bodies. TOBET "translates" this philosophically dense, theological reflection so that families and people of all ages can access this life-affirming teaching.

TOBET shares this message with others through educational resources: books, programs, talks, and seminars that offer hope to a culture in need. These resources offer a healing response to the culture's messages which devalue the human body and thus, the human person.

Giving Activity

Mission

TOBET provides original educational resources, presenting the truth of God's design of the body to children, youth, and families, so that all will be transformed by St. John Paul's life-affirming message of the Theology of the Body.

Needs

1. Funding for the development of My Body, My Identity: Discovering God's Design.

This professionally-produced video series for children, teens, parents, and other educators will explain and affirm the truth and beauty of God’s design for the human person, and it will guide children, youth, parents, and other educators in responding lovingly and in age-appropriate ways to the culture’s confusing messages that threaten the dignity of the human person.

2. Funding for printing The Body Matters in Spanish.

The Body Matters is a positive, age-appropriate curriculum that teaches the Theology of the Body to grades K-8. This curriculum does NOT address sexuality explicitly. Rather, it lays the foundation for a healthy, holistic understanding of a child's identity and dignity, and encourages them to embrace and respect their bodies and the bodies of others as image-bearers of God.

3. Funding for the growth and development of TOBET, worldwide.

Our evangelization team is poised for exponential growth, and only a lack of funding stands in the way of our ability to grow at the rate the world needs.
