One moment changed everything.

On February 1, 2010, at just 35 years old, Cindy Dobbs suddenly collapsed from cardiac arrest with no warning signs or symptoms. Paramedics performed CPR and shocked her five times before rushing her to the hospital, where she remained in a coma for a week. The cause was Thyroid Storm, a rare and potentially life-threatening complication of thyroid disease.

That experience led to the creation of the Thyroid Awareness Foundation (TAF), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to educating the public about thyroid health and helping people access testing.

Your donation helps turn awareness into action. Contributions allow TAF to purchase at-home thyroid test kits and provide them free of charge to anyone who requests one, helping remove cost and access barriers to getting tested. Donations also support educational outreach through social media, community events, and health fairs.

A thyroid condition can go undiagnosed because people may not recognize the symptoms or understand how much the thyroid can affect the body. TAF’s goal is simple: raise awareness, provide resources, encourage testing, and help people take control of their thyroid health.

Your support can help TAF reach more people, provide more free test kits, and potentially save lives.

Thyroid Awareness Foundation — Turning Awareness into Action.

Mission

Raising awareness, providing education, and expanding access to free thyroid testing to help people take control of their health.

Needs

Too many people spend years searching for answers before receiving a thyroid diagnosis. The Thyroid Awareness Foundation is working to change that through education, advocacy, and community outreach.

Your support helps us provide trusted educational resources, raise public awareness about thyroid disease, participate in health and community events, develop patient support initiatives, and advocate for earlier diagnosis and improved care. Donations also help us expand our reach so that more individuals and families can access the information and resources they need.

Together, we can help ensure that no one faces thyroid disease without knowledge, support, and hope.

Equity Statement

The Thyroid Awareness Foundation is committed to providing inclusive education, support, and advocacy for all individuals affected by thyroid disease. We believe everyone deserves access to accurate health information and resources, regardless of race, ethnicity, age, gender, income, ability, location, or background. We work to reduce barriers to thyroid awareness and promote equitable health outcomes in the communities we serve.
