The Zend is seeking funds to build a medical barn and quarantine area for our residents. We need a dedicated area for our sick or unwell residents to decompress and heal after rescue or during an illness. The medical barn will also be used for storage and classroom space for future educational projects we hope to begin at the sanctuary.
When starting The Zend, we knew we wanted to build a legacy that would make a lasting impact on the lives of animals as well as create initiatives and programs that will live on for years after we are gone. To foster a space and ideology that all animals deserve not only basic rights and protection but quality care and compassion will always be the right ideology to embrace for us. You'll often hear, "but, that's how we've always done it" when trying to defend current practices or traditions within different cultures and that right there should raise some flags. Without progress and moving forward and through "what's always been done" we completely cripple innovation and necessary evolution leading to better practices in the future. By being the bridge of conceptual animal love to actual animal love is an honor and a dedication to compassionate living and will ultimately be the very best thing we could do for the animal welfare movement. Every animal who is saved, doesn't get bred into existence for human consumption, or exploited for entertainment purposes is a success. By planting seeds of compassion in every ear we encounter we have done the absolute least we could for animals in need. The most we can do is continue to provide the absolute best practices of care by regularly upgrading current infrastructure as we grow as an organization, providing excellent veterinary care, quality food, sound structures to protect them from the elements, and love. Lots and lots of love.
