The Sweetheart Ball – A Legacy of Generosity and Heart Health

Founded in 1981 to honor Gail “Gigi” Griffiths Hill, the Sweetheart Ball began with a group of friends and a shared mission to advance heart health through support for the Cardiology Department at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

Now in its 44th year, the Ball has raised over $46 million for cardiovascular research, treatment, and innovation. Thanks to a matching gift from an anonymous donor at UTSW, every dollar raised is doubled, amplifying its life-saving impact.

Working closely with UT Southwestern leadership, including President Dr. Daniel K. Podolsky, the Ball directs funding to the most urgent needs in cardiovascular care through the Sweetheart Ball Fund for Cardiology to save lives and heal hearts.
