Texas Wesleyan University, founded in 1890, is a United Methodist institution with a tradition in liberal arts and sciences and focuses on professional and career preparation. Our mission is to develop students to their full potential as individuals and as members of the world community. Texas Wesleyan offers undergraduate degrees in 25 fields of study across four schools, as well as graduate programs in business, education, counseling, and nurse anesthesia. Many undergraduate students are non-traditional with 25 being the average student age, while over 40% of undergraduates are first generation college students and more than 50% are Pell eligible. Texas Wesleyan University is designated are a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI).

The Wesleyan Fund is designated as the university's annual fundraising effort to assist students in meeting their financial assistance needs. Funding received for the Wesleyan Fund is used to provide scholarships and financial assistance to the students who need it the most. Annually, The Wesleyan Fund utilizes funds raised to bridge the gaps for students who need supplemental financial aid, to provide funding for key academic programming, and to address unexpected student needs. Texas Wesleyan utilizes the Wesleyan Fund to ensure all student needs are met and to allow students the ability to earn their post-secondary education in a supportive environment.
