Texas Discovery Gardens is a 7.5 acre 501©(3) nonprofit native garden and butterfly house in Dallas, Texas. Children discover the natural world through classes, tours and interactive talks. Whether they see a giant Atlas Moth up close during one of our daily butterfly releases, sign up for a week long summer camp, or participate in hands-on programming through a class, they leave with a better appreciation of the world around them.

Can you recall the first time you got to touch a snake, feeling its cool, dry scales? Or the first time you saw a butterfly flying in your backyard, close enough to touch? With every visit, we're creating experiences that are remembered into adulthood.

Our Needs

We are currently in need of funds to help us maintain our gardens and Butterfly House, to support our education programs, and to continue our mission with our popular Earthkeeper Scholarship.

Mission

Welcome to Texas Discovery Gardens! With donations from NTxGD, we will be able to continue our mission of teaching adults and children how to sustain the natural world. We do this through our production greenhouse that propagates all of the native plants guests enjoy as they wander throughout our 7.75 acres. Without the money from admissions, we couldn't sustain the population of butterflies, pay for snake food or buy propagation materials for our greenhouse. The funds from NTxGD will help us to continue to bring adults and children into our urban oasis.

We will be using the funds from this Giving Day to support our growing education department who will offer scholarships to Title 1 schools and nonprofits, adding new children's programs and summer camp opportunities, and bringing some adult workshops back to our gardens. We will also be using funds to restore sections of our greenhouse and support the 80+ volunteers who donate their time to us every week. We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve our community and to the people who support us throughout the year.
