Our Mission 

Teach For America Dallas-Fort Worth finds, develops, and supports a network of leaders committed to expanding educational opportunity for all children. We do this through direct classroom leadership and sustained action across the schools, districts, and sectors that shape our region's future.

Who We Are 

At Teach For America Dallas-Fort Worth, leadership begins with a two-year commitment to teach in local public and charter schools. Since 2009, we have brought over 1,700 educators to North Texas classrooms. 

The classroom experience creates leaders who continue investing in students and communities long after their two-year commitment ends. Today, more than two-thirds of our local alumni remain in education, collectively reaching over 240,000 students across North Texas. These alumni leaders can be found having an impact at every level of the system: 

• 140+ serve as school principals and campus leaders. 
• 30 lead at senior executive levels within school systems.
• 44 shape local policy and advocate for students. 
• 120 lead education-focused community organizations. 
• 2 serve as elected officials driving civic change.

The Need for TFA & Our 2030 Goal 

We focus our work where the need for dedicated leadership is greatest. Across Dallas-Fort Worth, too many students still don't have consistent access to the strong, prepared teachers who can help them reach their full potential — a gap that shows up early, in reading and math, and follows students all the way through their path to college and career.

We believe an excellent education is the single most powerful driver of long-term economic mobility. That's why we've set a clear goal: by 2030, we aim to double the number of students in TFA DFW's Impact Zones who reach college and career readiness.

Our Approach 

To reach this goal, Teach For America Dallas-Fort Worth:

• Recruits and develops dedicated educators and tutors — from full-time classroom teachers to Ignite Fellows providing high-dosage tutoring — ready to help students make real academic progress from day one.
• Supports lifelong leaders as they step into principal offices, district administration, and community leadership roles, strengthening school systems from the inside out.
• Builds a connected network of educators, school leaders, and advocates working together to expand opportunity across North Texas.

Your support fuels this pipeline. Today, it helps us recruit, train, and support more than 140 corps members and 295 Ignite Fellows in DFW classrooms — and sustains a growing network of over 1,700 alumni leading change across North Texas.
