Texas Women's Foundation

A nonprofit organization

Did you know that Texas has the strongest economy in the nation at $2.4 trillion in annual economic output?

Did you know that WOMEN represent 46% of the Texas workforce and power its infrastructure, holding the majority of the roles in healthcare, education and social services?

So how is it that Texas ranks 47th in the nation for women’s economic security and overall wellbeing? (WalletHub, 2024)

  • Texas has the highest rate of uninsured women in the nation. (Commonwealth Hub, 2024)
  • One in six Texas women live in poverty; women of color experience the highest rates of poverty.
  • One in three Texas families is housing cost-burdened, spending more than 30% of their income on housing; single mothers and women of color are disproportionately impacted.

Worse still, women make only 83 cents on the dollar compared to their male counterparts, despite enrolling and persisting in higher education at much higher levels than men and earning 1.4x the number of college degrees.

Since 1985 Texas Women’s Foundation has been working to remove the barriers to women’s economic security, stability and success by addressing healthcare access, access to affordable childcare, housing stability and access to critical education and leadership development opportunities.

With support from donors like you, we’ve been able to invest $87.8 million in driving positive social and economic change for women and girls through research, advocacy, grantmaking and educational programs. But our work is not done…

The time is now.

The need is great.

And Texas women and girls have never needed us more!
