TR Hoover is a 501c3 community based organization dedicated to providing educational, social, and community services to the South Dallas neighborhood. With the help of volunteers, a network of church members, and a wide range of partners, TR Hoover offers a variety of programs for children, adults, and seniors.

Our organization is a licensed childcare group, we run a after-school program serving over 50 children weekly, offering extracurricular activities to keep them engaged. In the summer, our eight-week Summer Camp accommodates over 60 children, providing educational enrichment, hands-on experiences, field trips, nutritious meals, health education, and game development through eSports.

We also provide community members access to our food pantry and weekly outreach to families to support quality of living. Our learning garden, provides organic fruits and vegetables and supplies produce to our grocery line. Through the garden, children in our after-school and summer camp programs learn about food production, nutrition, resilience, and self-sufficiency.

At our tech center, we offer a six-week digital skills program where our participants learn digital basics, job search techniques, resume building, career path options, and essential job application processes for success.

Our Needs

Our organization currently needs financial support to enhance our technology programs through the Hoover Tech Center and for general operational needs. We have been fortunate to provide computers and internet to families in need, but we remain in a digital desert, as well as a food desert. We provide weekly grocery distributions to children, families, and senior citizens, including a delivery grocery program for seniors. Additionally, we provide over 160 nutritious meals for our program children. These programs require resources and funding to continue offering a wide range of services.

With North Texas Giving Day, we aim to raise $50,000 to provide educational opportunities in STEAM-related fields for children through our after-school program, build an additional eSports game development program, expand our digital skills program in the Tech Center, continue feeding our program children weekly, and provide food to our neighbors in need. Your support will help create a community that can thrive with access to these valuable opportunities.
