Empowering Hispanic Women for Health Equity: Join Us on North Texas Giving Day

In Hispanic culture, women are the anchors of our families and community. They are decision makers, advocates, and, most profoundly, givers.

In too many instances, however, this long tradition of generous care for others results in poorer health outcomes for women, both in mental and physical health. It is a quiet crisis that speaks to a larger, and more systemic issue: Hispanic women, and the entire Hispanic population overall, face deeply inequitable health disparities today in the U.S. Nearly all of these health disparities stem from social determinants of health such as income, education status, home language, and physical geography.

With your help, we can change that. Please join SuperVive’s important work to improve the health and wellness of Hispanic women across North Texas. Your gift on North Texas Giving Day will directly support our community’s Hispanic women as they lead healthier, more empowered lives. Because of you, women will have access to culturally-tailored education and coaching to lower the incidence of chronic disease, improved mental and physical health, and perhaps most important—a newfound confidence as they take control of their health.

On behalf of our board, volunteers, staff, and the 1,250 women who need your help over the next year, thank you for your gift.

Mission

SuperVive delivers health and well-being education to Hispanic women and their families in the U.S. by creating positive health communities where culturally tailored and accessible chronic disease prevention programs are at the center. We use four pillars to drive equitable whole health behavioral change: Nutrition, Mental Health, Physical Activity, and Empowered Health.

The women who join us achieve outstanding outcomes related to their health. Over the last year, for example:

—Nutrition: 95% made healthier food choices

—Empowered Health: 95% became stronger self-advocates during medical visits and treatment

—Physical Activity: 94% practiced more intentional movement

—Mental Health: 93% felt at peace and took care of their emotions

Needs

Despite our community’s widespread focus on health and well-being, Hispanics experience stubbornly high rates of chronic disease, obesity, and cancer:

— 76% of adults in the U.S. reported having at least one chronic disease, a figure that reaches 93% in adults aged 65 or older (Hacker, 2024).

— Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death, with 39% of Hispanic adults in the U.S. living with hypertension (CDC, 2025).

— Cancer is the second leading cause of death among Hispanics in the U.S. (ACS, 2025), with 58% of cancer diagnoses in the Hispanic population occurring in late stages (ACS, 2025).

— Hispanic adults are 52% more likely to be diagnosed with diabetes compared to non-Hispanic whites (CDC, 2025).

— 45% of the Hispanic population in the U.S. is affected by obesity (Alemán et al., 2023).

— 21% of Hispanic adults in the U.S. experienced a mental illness in the last year (MHA, 2025).

But... here’s the GOOD NEWS:

Adopting a healthy lifestyle could prevent more than 50% of deaths from chronic diseases in the United States (Hacker, 2024).

When people are supported, informed, and connected, health outcomes improve.
