Our program reaches children and families from the Allen, Plano, McKinney, and Frisco areas. We have been in existence for over 37 years and have worked with over 4000 families and their children for those years. We became our own entity changing from the umbrella of St. Jude Catholic Church to a self-sufficient preschool. Our impact on the community has certainly been in our philosophy of working with young children encouraging them to be creative, to learn new things, and to wonder about their world. Our staff is innovative in their approach to teaching always using best practices of developmentally appropriate activities to teach concepts and skills. Our goal is for the children to develop a love of learning. Since becoming our own entity, we have been able to financially help children attend our program through financial assistance through our Angel program. To date those scholarships have equaled over $51,000.00.
Currently, Sunshine and Rainbows ELC plans to replace the sheds on our playground, pay for playground mulch, offset operating expenses, fund teacher retention/recognition and upgrade our pretend play prop boxes. We focus on the critical thinking, creative, and physical needs of the children. Funds are needed for classroom tools and manipulatives including our Specials rotations of Music, Spanish and the STEAM lab. Sunshine and Rainbows also provides scholarships based on financial need. The mission of Sunshine and Rainbows Early Learning Center is to provide a Christ-centered, safe, and creative environment that nurtures the child, encourages compassion for others and supports a love of learning while fostering the intellectual, spiritual, social, emotional, and physical growth and development of children.
